Hey all.

Just watched the first two episodes of a new sci-fi series called Odyssey 5. I really enjoyed it and found it refreshing to hear swearing in it. You don't get swearing in sci-fi that much.

To a degree, I found it unpredictable, which is extremely refreshing, considering lots of shows on TV are "dumbed" down because the "powers that be" think most audiences are stupid and can't handle certain concepts. Maybe they're right, but come on, it's sci-fi for fucks' sake, anything goes.

I understand that the writers and producers do have to make sacrifices in the screenplays that may result in a thinner storyline and predictable plot progression for the sake of a one hour time slot, but it's nice to have that little bit of unpredictibility in a show. It's thought provoking.

Since i'm in Australia, I had to download it. We are starved of sci-fi down here at the moment. Unless you can afford PayTV (cable) that is. Otherwise, like me, you just have to contend with the public TV networks sporatically airing sci-fi at strange times and if you're lucky you'll get the episodes in order.

I'm a sucker for sci-fi but I draw the line at Mutant X. That show is a complete waste of shit. Everything about it is bad. The acting is bad, the plots are bad, the scripts are bad. The only redeeming quality of the show is the editing. I pity the poor fucker that has to edit that shit together and try to make it look good. The only thing he'd have to work with is the hot women in the show. He'd be like "Fuck, where'd the fucking storyline go. Shit. Oh well, i'll just cut to a panning leg shot of that blonde cat chick". Seriously, what other options does he have!

So there is shit on TV and some better stuff. I just hope Odyssey 5 gets to finish telling it's story and not get axed halfway through the series.

"Look ma, i'm a train... chug chug chug chug chug... toot toot...chug chug..."

I just found out this morning that the security guard from my building is no longer in critical condition. I'll explain.

In the building that I live there is a 24 hour security desk and one of the full time security guards was a guy named "Sunny". This isn't his real name, just an abbriviated/Australianised version of it. He was a really nice guy, always greeted people on their way to the lift, always ready to have a conversation with people. I was never one of the people that spoke much to him but I could tell that he was a nice guy. I usually just nodded in his general direction, got my mail and was on my way.

About a month or two ago, when Sunny was off duty, he was hanging with his friends on a saturday night, I think he was coming home from a night out. He was walking along the footpath with his mates when a drunk driver mounted the curb and hit him directly and knocked his friends about a little too. So anyway, he was taken to hospital in a critical condition. I think he lapsed into a coma. He sustained a huge amount of injuries, I can't remember all of them but i'm sure the collar bone, pelvis, arms and legs were among them.

Some people in my building that knew him well had been keeping everyone else updated with his condition by sticky taping notes inside the elevators. They usually contained details of the different operations he was due to have and his general health status. The one I read this morning was the one that really got my attention for some reason. Basically it said he was no longer in critical condition and that "he has lost all of his beautiful teeth". I've never really thought about it before but when I read that it made me feel bad and extremely sorry for him for the first time. He is around his late 20's early 30's and with all of the other injuries he has, to add a bit more salt to the wound he has lost most of his teeth. The thought makes me cringe, especially to think that i've seen this man before with all of his teeth intact and now they are gone. He never deserved this. Where the fuck is god when shit like this happens.

If our "so called" God is a non-interventionist, then why the fuck should I give a shit about him. If I believe in him, shit happens, if I don't, shit happens. What is the point!

I digress...

My main point is that I feel responsible for what happened to Sunny. If I had bothered to actually have some conversations with him instead of asking him "hey man, can I get the spare key, I've locked myself out again" or atleast spoken to him more, maybe, just maybe that would have been enough for him to be in the right place at the right time on the night of the accident. That's chaos theory at it's best. The whole "butterfly effect" thing. But I guess to think like this would ultimately lead to me being responsible for all of the bad this world has to offer.

My conscience hurts.. I think it's broken.

Oh and by the way orazzio, word to that brother!

The most topical rascism debate in Australia at them moment involves the slanderous and vilified treatment of the middle eastern community as a whole.

It is interesting that a review into the mistreament of the middle eastern communty in NSW by the NSW police force has become inconclusive pending further investigations.

It does seem evident that middle eastern people in NSW have been charged and arrested in greater numbers then is proportionate for their population. However is it representative of the crime rate? Or are these figures the result of racial slandering. One man said it best when he confronted by a media unit who attended his place of worship during the famous sydney gang rape trial. "What are you guys doing here?" His inference that the media crew was interviewing random members of the muslim community in this case was testament to the hate mongering of the anglo white bread media. A group of young men were not on trial - the media had put the entire islamic communtiy on trial. "Why is that you when a crime is commited he is a described as a man of middle eastern appearance? Nobody ever says that a crime was commited by someone of Australian appearance?"

Further research into this media beat up found that the 55 year jail sentence for an alleged gang rape and those that followed were all scapegoats for a muslim bashing media. Slanderous columnists, rumour mongers and journalists misquoted, made up and blatently lied about muslim practices saying that they had quoted international researchers who, when contacted strongly denied the statements and offered to support legal action against the australian journalists. What was invented in Melbourne was rehashed in Sydney re manufactured in Canberra and are now ingrained into the Australian conscience.

The Australian muslim community are the new 'communists'. Feared, mistrusted and misunderstood. Unlike the communists of the cold war these people have to work amongst this sentiment against them. They have to shop here, go to school here. Suddenly an 8 year old girl is thought of as a terrorsit instead of a little girl who has brought something more to the cultural fibre of this country.

Australians don't believe that the social system of the middle eastern community is just, that they are an archaic people and that their clothing is a slap in the face to the the country that has accepted them. Austalians see the middle eastern community as one that harbours ideas hundreds of years old, yet in this very country, 'the lucky country' as it is affectionately known. In our parents generation no less, in our siblings generation or our own lifetime for some of us, a black person could not get on a bus, a woman was not allowed to vote and people were imprisoned for showing their ankles in public. How quickly we forget.

And by the way if you ever wondered why only about 30% of Australians know the national anthem the following extraction might be a reason for them to forget.

"For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair"

So why does Australia have this angst against the middle eastern community. Certainly the inbred rascism is part of it but its because the United States wants us to believe this. Just like they wanted us to believe in the red threat of communism during the cold war. It must be terrible to accept a national philosophy of sharing and equality aka communism when the good old selfish rampaging piggery of capitalism are the so called 'good guys'.

The lesson is that we are all different. Politically, socially, intellectually even. We look different.Speak different. Have different foods. And it is this diveristy which is enriching. It is this diversity that founded and advanced this country. Hell without other nations we wouldnt even have McDonalds. I mean the only true Aussie food is a bunch of offal, cow eyes and bull testicles all crushed up and placed in a pastry pocket. There is more to life than a meat pie.

So Who is this we that I am now talking about you may ask? Us! You. Me. They guy over the road. Everybody in our race. the human race. Remember that next time you sing the Australian National Anthem. After all it was written by a Scotsman to celebrate his native St. Andrews day in Sydney Australia!

www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/10/02/1033538673521.html

Now, generally speaking I agree with this article. While I have no issues with teenage girls dressing up like adults, I do have a problem with the adult population not seeing what is happening.

I believe that all parents (to a degree) should be in control of their childs habbits until they feel there childs' decisions alone will be enough to keep them safe and well. This will generally happen around 16 or 17, however most governments push this back to 18 just for safe measure.

Now. Why is it that I should feel guilty about anything when I look at a tanned 13 year old in a bikini top walking on the street. Am I a pedofile? No. Is it wrong for me to look? No. If I wasn't meant to look then she would never have left the house with those clothes on. If they have the freedom to be scantly clad then shouldn't I have the freedom to look at them?!

Either way, it all comes down to the big companies. These people couldn't give a shit if you are a pedofile. If anything it's better for them. They'll sell more. Besides, kids will always want to grow up quicker, what better way than to give them a crop top for their 11th birthday. I guess my point is that society has this moral high ground shit going on about pedofiles and does absolutely nothing to prevent them from lusting over there children, such as maybe not dressing them like adults. I just get sick of the 'Holier than thou' bullshit that some of these people come up with and don't seem to care about the corporations that actually propegate the issue. They are targeting the individuals where as they should be targeting the corporations.

And another thing. The average age of puberty is getting lower. So what is the law going to do about it? Are you going to have a pack of sexually frustrated teens roaming around breaking shit up because they can't deal with their new found emotions? Are they going to have to wait five or more years before they can legally release the tension generated by that frustration? Fuck no! They are going to fuck around like a pack of wild rabbits because 1) It's illegal, 2) Their parents don't want them to do it and 3) It feels fucking great. What better way to deal with teenage stress then to have sex! Now this age is getting lower, so does that mean that you are a pedofile if you have sex with a fully developed 13 year old? At what age are you no longer a child? Are you no longer a child when you hit and progress through puberty? Or are you a child until the law/society says otherwise?

Physically the world is changing, mentally it isn't. I need a fucking time machine!

These are my thoughts. Make of them what you will.
